General FAQs
What is Prompt Royale 2026?
Prompt Royale 2026 is Singapore's largest Whole-of-Government prompt engineering and AI literacy competition, designed to upskill public officers in using generative AI for their day-to-day work. It is organised by GovTech's Empower team and runs across three tracks: Agency League, IkigAI, and The Last Guardrail.
Who can participate?
All public officers across the Singapore government are welcome to participate. You can join one, two, or all three tracks depending on your interests and your agency's involvement.
When does Prompt Royale 2026 Start?
All three tracks officially launch on 29 June 2026. The Grand Finale takes place on 5 November 2026 at Marina Bay Sands Convention Centre, as part of STACK Conference — Singapore's largest government-led technology event.
What AI tools can participants use?
Participants are free to use any of the WOG-accessible free tools to ensure a level playing field across all agencies. Paif industry tools are available for use but will not be provisoned by the GovTech organising team.
Prompt Royale Agency League
What is Agency League?
Agency League is a team-based competition where partner agencies submit real workplace problem statements, which are then tackled by officers across the public service. The best solutions are surfaced to each agency, who select their champion team to advance to the Grand Finale.
How does my agency become a partner
Agencies sign up by completing the FormSG onboarding form. Spots are capped at 12 partner agencies and are offered on a first-come, first-secured basis.
Do agencies need to run our own internal qualifying rounds?
No. GovTech handles central evaluation and shortlisting. Agency Commitees just needs to review the top solutions surfaced to you and select your champion team.
How long do officers have to work on the problem statements?
Officers have approximately 2–3 weeks to submit their entries once the call for solutions opens in August–September.
What does the Agency Committee need to do?
The Agency Committee serves as the internal champion group for the programme. They help share launch information internally in May, attend the launch briefing, and submit problem statements by August.
What does our agency get out of joining?
Partner agencies get access to 18+ capacity-building workshops designed and run by GovTech, a centralised platform that hosts and evaluates all solutions, PR-HQ-run semi-finals and Grand Finale, internal comms support (EDM copy and briefing materials), and most importantly, visible AI champions within your agency.
What if our agency isn't participating in Prompt Royale Agency League?
You can still join PR-exclusive workshops. However, bespoke engagement formats from the organising team are reserved for partner agencies.
When is the Grand Finale?
The Agency League Grand Finale takes place on 5 November 2026, 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM (TBC) at Marina Bay Sands Convention Centre, as part of STACK Conference. Three finalist teams will be evaluated live on stage by a panel of judges from the public and private sectors.
The Last Guardrail
What is The Last Guardrail?
The Last Guardrail is a gamified AI safety learning experience where players work through seven levels of increasing difficulty. Each level features a Guardian representing a different type of AI guardrail — some that screen what you type, others that screen what the AI is about to respond with. Your goal is to understand how each guardrail works by crafting prompts that test its defences.
What will I learn from The Last Guardrail?
You will build practical knowledge around prompt injection, indirect prompt injection, and how AI guardrails work — including the difference between input and output guardrails. Each level teaches what that guardrail catches, how it functions, and why it matters.
Do I need prior AI knowledge to play?
No. The Last Guardrail is designed for officers at all levels of AI familiarity. Difficulty increases progressively, so you build understanding as you play.
What are the prizes for The Last Guardrail?
The top 8 finalists receive cash prizes: $500 for 1st place, $300 for 2nd, $200 for 3rd, and $50 each for 4th to 8th place. The total prize pool is $1,250.
Can my agency collaborate with GovTech on The Last Guardrail?
Collaboration opportunities (such as piloting the game at your agency or co-delivering it at internal events) are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Reach out to the Empower team to discuss what's possible.
Ikigai
What is IkigAI?
IkigAI is a gamified AI learning and engagement platform — think Duolingo for AI upskilling. Officers earn XP by participating in games and challenges, attending workshops, and joining physical meetups and activities. As XP accumulates, milestone rewards are unlocked.
How do I earn XP?
There are three types of activities that earn XP: games and challenges (such as Meow Shan Wang and Prompt Detective), workshop attendance, and physical meetups and activities.
What are the XP milestones and rewards?
The XP bar spans 2,000 points total, with a $5 cash reward unlocked at differing XP milestone — that's up to $20 in cumulative rewards for hitting all milestones.
Are there tiers or levels?
Yes. As you accumulate XP, you progress through named tiers: Explorer, Pathfinder, and Trailblazer. Each tier reflects your level of engagement with the programme.
How is IkigAI useful for agencies?
IkigAI gives agencies concrete participation data — not just sign-up numbers, but evidence of who is actively engaging with AI learning. It also helps surface your agency's AI champions through the leaderboard, and keeps upskilling social and sustained across the year rather than limited to one-off events.
